At 50% he splits into four adds. While at first glance the adds are the same, take a closer look. Three of the adds have a buff (the icon looks like a heart). One of the adds has a different buff than the rest. You want to kill the one that does not have the Heart.
If you kill one with a Heart buff, he complete heals to 100% and powers up. Repeatedly killing the wrong one will power him up further.
Killing the right one will make the adds poof, and he will reappear in his normal form at 50%, ready to kill.
I do recommend pulling the adds away from the real Corrival though. When he splits into adds he also powers up, but roots himself.
